Surgical Procedure Pack ID System
Medline Industries introduced the first-of-its kind surgical procedure pack
identification system to help improve OR efficiency, eliminate waste, and
enhance patient safety. Featuring easy-to-read color-coded labels and forms,
Medline’s EMPOWER system features easy-to-read, color-coded outer packing labels and matching color-coded insert forms that easily identify each pack
and reduce the chance of selecting the wrong pack. Traditionally-designed
procedure packs, however, look almost identical to each other – regardless of
the specific surgical procedure. Most traditional packs are wrapped in blue
surgical draping with no outer identification label and a hard-to-read packaging insert placed on top of it, which makes it virtually impossible to identify
individual packs quickly and easily.
Kimberly-Clark Healthcare offers INTEGUSEAL Microbial Sealant.
According to the company, it's been shown to seal and immobilize skin flora
that preps miss—including MRSA, S. epidermidis, and E. coli—keeping
them from migrating into the surgical incision. It is effective against common
and dangerous skin pathogens throughout a surgical procedure. It's also
breathable, safe, easy to apply and fast-drying. INTEGUSEAL Microbial
Sealant is available in three sizes for a range of procedures.

Absorbent Surgical Floor Pad
LDI Corporation announces the launch of the EnviroSorb Super
Absorbent Surgical Floor Pad. The new EnviroSorb Super Absorbent pad
absorbs twice as much fluid and contains spills in an innovative composite
structure. This results in less clean-up and easier handling and disposal.
EnviroSorb also helps keep floors clean, dry, and slip-free during fluid-intense surgical procedures. The efficient liquid retention design saves time
and costs, while maintaining a safe, PVC-free environment.
